I arrived at my new host family's house today...Wow. That is all I can say. I have windows on two walls in my room, and both have an awesome view of the Ossiachersee (Ossiacher Lake) It is about a fifteen minute walk to the Kircher's (my temporary first host family) It is a big house, and their "small dog" which I expected to be a terrier or something turned out to be a 6 month old Golden Retriever named Jason. They also have a cat, he stays outside most of the time, and Nathalie (pronounced like "Natalie") has a hamster. Nathalie just turned 13 yesterday, and Claudio will be 17 next week. Ramona either just turned 16, or she will soon. Claudio and Ramona are at a waterskiing competition in Italy, Nathalie also goes waterskiing competitively, but she didn't go to this competition. My host dad's name is Gerhard, and my host mom is Ruth. Ruth is also a vegetarian.
I have been here since 1pm (it is now 4:45) and I still haven't managed to unpack my big suitcase, partially because I gave up, and partially because we were busy. We ate lunch at around 2pm, and then they took me to Villach to get my ÖBB card (that allows me to get half-price train tickets, AFS will refund 1/2 price tickets to AFS events.) and my 30-day train pass that allows me to go from Sattendorf to Villach and the other way around whenever I want, it is mostly so I can get to school, but I can use it for whenever I need to get into town. Then Gerhard went to the bookstore, and Nathalie and I looked in some clothes stores. This is the perfect family for me because Nathalie and Claudio won't speak English (I have met Claudio before, at the Kircher's) I don't know about Ramona. Have fun at the Homecoming dance tonight! (Riley-good luck with that date of yours! lol)
Love, Erin
